Wing riggers can be moved towards bow or stern to fine-tune trim. With no hull ribs they suit rowers with "well developed posteriors". More water clearance for rough conditions, at the cost of some aerodynamic drag and lower saxboards.

Every Swift wing rigger is welded to optimum design from high-grade aluminium (or carbon) and hard anodised for a long-lasting finish. All are adjustable for span, work height and pitch: and we guarantee the accuracy of every one we ship.

Trim adjustment

Wing riggers slide towards bow or stern to fine-tune a boat's trim, impossible with rib-mounted riggers.

Suited to rowers with "well developed posteriors", more comfortable seat-to-hull geometry.

Lower saxboards make wing-rigger hulls more prone to swamping in heavy water.

Swift offers six wing-rigger profiles across the flatwater range. Each one welded, hard anodised, and adjustable for span / work height / pitch. Pick the right rigger for your shell, your crew and your conditions.

  • Very efficient at transferring power to boat speed.

Carbon Reverse Wing Riggers

  • Scull and sweep riggers with aerofoil profiles, C-bracket to hold the pin, mounted behind the rower.
  • Carbon reverse wing riggers can only be used on new Racing Shell moulds: middle number is 2 (e.g. 121-).

  • Choice of carbon (reverse wing) or high-grade aluminium, welded to optimum design and hard anodised for a long-lasting finish.
  • All adjustable for span, work height and pitch.
02 · Adjustment Range

Span. Work height.

All measurements in millimeters or degrees. ±3 mm, ±0.3° is the margin of error we work to. Span and work height are calculated:

  • From the boat's center line, when the pin is in the MIDDLE position of the rigger block.
  • When the oarlock is vertically in the MIDDLE position of the pin.
  • When Ali Back riggers are fixed to the boat in the MIDDLE of the 2 possible positions.
  • From the curve around the hole in the seat top to the sill of the oarlock.

03 · Adjustment Notes & Parts

How the
numbers come together.

Each rigger family hits its total adjustment range using a mix of pin washers, spacers, height wedges and pin wedges. Below, what does what, plus the Swift part numbers you'll see on the order form.

ALI BACK · HEIGHT

Ali Back riggers have some work-height adjustment by changing the height that the rigger is attached to the boat.

ALI BACK · WEDGES

Ali Back riggers have some work-height adjustment using Swift's "Rigger height wedges": Prod# Rig11.

WING · 10 MM SPACERS

Wing riggers have +10 mm extra work-height adjustment with Swift's "10 mm spacers": Prod# Rig33. 1 set supplied as standard.

ALI WING · LATERAL PITCH

For Ali Wing, lateral pitch is easily adjusted with our pin wedges: Prod# Rig10A. 1° wedges supplied as standard.

04 · Quick Release (QR), Aluminium Wing Riggers

Off in seconds.
Ten-mil compromise.

Swift's wing-rigger quick release system is precision made, easy to use and reliable. Available on aluminium wing riggers, gets the rigger off the boat fast for transport and storage.

Important

QR parts are the same height as our standard 10 mm spacer. When QR parts are used, adjustability of work height is reduced by 10 mm. Plan your rigging accordingly.
